Frequently Asked Questions
About ProNourish Nutritional Drink

A: FODMAPs (Fermentable Oligosaccharides, Disaccharides, Monosaccharides And Polyols) are specific types of carbohydrates that can be difficult for some people to digest.
A: The low FODMAP diet was developed by researchers at Monash University in Australia. A team of scientists (Gastroenterologists and Registered Dietitian Nutritionists [RDNs]) discovered that foods high in FODMAPs can trigger gastrointestinal symptoms in people with digestive sensitivities.
A: The low FODMAP diet is an exclusion diet recommended by healthcare professionals for people with digestive sensitivities, including people with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).
A: While ProNourish™ was formulated to be compliant with a low FODMAP diet for people with food intolerance, anyone can enjoy ProNourish™ drinks as a nutritious snack or mini-meal.
A: ProNourish™ drink is the first mass-marketed, low FODMAP nutritional drink to be launched in the United States.
A: No. With only 170 calories per 8 fl oz bottle, ProNourish™ drink is appropriate as a mini-meal or snack.
A: No. ProNourish™ drinks are not a medicinal product and should not be used to cure, treat or manage any condition or disease. ProNourish™ drinks are low in FODMAPs and can be used as a snack or mini-meal as part of a Low FODMAP diet. Please call us at 1-800-558-6991 and/or visit your health care professional if you have any questions.
A: Yes, its ingredients were carefully selected to be low in FODMAPs and it does not contain sugar alcohols, high fructose corn syrup, inulin or fructooligosaccharides. It’s suitable for people with lactose intolerance, but not those with galactosemia. ProNourish™ Drink is Low FODMAP Certified by Monash University*.
A: Yes, milk protein concentrate (MPC) is low FODMAP. The “D” in FODMAP is specific to the disaccharide lactose. So foods containing lactose (e.g., non-fat milk, 1% milk, 2% milk, whole milk, yogurt, etc) are considered high FODMAP. An ingredient like MPC is a source of concentrated protein, as the lactose is removed during processing. Note that the Low FODMAP diet is not a dairy-free diet—it’s a diet that limits lactose from dairy.
A: Yes, soy protein isolate is low FODMAP. The “O” in FODMAP is specific to oligosaccharides (fructans and galactooligosaccharides [GOS]). Soy products can be a source of oligosaccharides if they contain carbohydrates. An ingredient like soy protein isolate is a source of concentrated protein as the fructans/GOS are removed during processing. However, products that contain whole soybeans in soy milk, soy flour or edamame contain fructans/GOS, which are high FODMAP. Note that the Low FODMAP diet is not a soy-free diet, it’s a diet that limits sources of whole soybeans but not all soy.

A: ProNourish™ Drink contains 6g of sugar per 8 fl oz bottle.
A: ProNourish™ Drink uses cane sugar and sucralose as sweeteners.
A: Yes, cane sugar or table sugar is low FODMAP. The “M” in FODMAP is specific to the monosaccharide fructose (an excess of glucose). Since cane sugar provides a 1-to-1 ratio of fructose to glucose, it is not considered high FODMAP. Products that contain high fructose corn syrup or honey are high FODMAP.
A: Sucralose is a low-FODMAP sweetener that is found as the last ingredient in the ingredients list of the product. Since ingredients are listed in descending order by weight, the level of sucralose used in ProNourish™ Drink is relatively low compared to the rest of the ingredients. With only 6g of sugar per bottle, a small amount of sucralose provides additional sweetness for a great-tasting nutritional drink that is also low in FODMAPs.
